Deirdre DeBruyn Rubio
Post-Doctoral Scholar in the Study of Religion
Deirdre DeBruyn Rubio's work is at the intersection of politics, anthropology, and religion. Her current research illuminates how Muslims in the U.S. and France mobilize politically across religious lines, cultivating new forms of active citizenship and democratic participation. Developing the notion of religious citizenship, she compares how religiously engaged citizens in both countries use voluntary organizations to develop strategies for recognition and participation in democracies.
