About the Speakers

Bryan Whitaker is a global leader in technology and analytics for political and public affairs campaigns, helping elect Presidents and Prime Ministers, and pass federal and state legislation. He is cofounder and CEO of Statara Solutions, a voter and consumer data analytics provider. He works with advocacy groups and corporate affairs campaigns, colleges and universities, and regulated consumer brand marketers. Prior, he designed and led data and analytics efforts for various Democratic campaigns and progressive organizations while serving as Chief Innovation Officer for TargetSmart. During the 2012 election, Bryan was Chief Technology Officer for the Democratic National Committee and built the national data infrastructure used by President Obama’s successful reelection campaign. He previously served as founding Director of Field Information Services at the Service Employees International Union in Washington, DC working with union affiliates and national partners on technology, data, and analytics.

Matt Taverna has spent his career providing expertise on the use of publicly and privately available datasets to regulated industries, trade associations, think tanks, non-profits, and political campaigns. At Statara, he has worked with state agencies and with brands and companies nationwide in developing solutions for compliance with state regulations around age restricted retail. At the start of his career, he managed several aspects of the Tobacco Project at the National Association of Attorneys General that was tasked with enforcing the economic and public health provisions of the Master Settlement Agreement. At NAAG he was responsible for the creation of a data driven analysis that helped pass tobacco control legislation in 47 state legislatures. As the first Chief Revenue Officer of TargetSmart, he oversaw the implementation of new products and their introduction to the political technology marketplace and grew annual revenue by over 500% during the course of his tenure.
