Helen Webley-Brown is a Ph.D. student in American Politics and Quantitative Methods at MIT. Her research interests include the U.S. criminal legal system, race and ethnicity politics, and how advanced technologies impact the way people experience and perceive the state. At the intersection of this, she is studying the demobilizing effect of pre-trial electronic monitoring and the deployment of police surveillance tools in Black neighborhoods.
