Alice Yang

Alice Yang is a recipient of a 2025 CAPS Undergraduate Summer Thesis Research Grant. Alice’s proposed thesis research is entitled, “U.S. Student Protests during the Vietnam War.”

Proposal synopsis: This thesis analyzes how SDS-led anti-war protests at Harvard, Columbia, and Michigan interacted with each administrations actions–whether negotiation or repression–and how those choices shaped both the movement and the universities. Through archival research and oral histories, I’ll map out pivotal decisions and their impact on campus politics and national discourse, revealing how student activism and institutional responses co-evolve and continue to influence todays protests.
