Franco Paz is a PhD Candidate in the History department. His dissertation explores 17th and 18th century commodity chains centered on enslaved labor, bringing to light both the extent of capitalism’s global integration and its dependence on the coercion and downright enslavement of workers all over the world even during its formative stages. His work has appeared in publications including The Washington Post and Hyperallergic, as well as various academic journals and edited collections.
