Holly Hummer is a doctoral candidate in Sociology with broad interests in the fields of family, gender, and fertility. She is especially interested in studying how cultural and policy contexts shape the ways that individuals make important family decisions, such as whether or not to have a child. Her dissertation investigates the demographic phenomenon of childlessness using in-depth interviews with women in the U.S. and Japan.
