My dissertation is an intellectual history of black anarchism in the twentieth-century United States. Weaving together both the biographical and the theoretical, I trace the life stories and intellectual production of a few key black anarchist figures who came of age amidst the Black Power movement — seeking to understand how their lives and ideas responded to, and influenced, the historical milieu of which the were a part.
