June Park is a recipient of a 2023 CAPS Undergraduate Summer Thesis Research Grant. June’s proposed thesis is entitled, “Helping the Other 60% of Young Americans to Vote: High School Voter Registration Drives.”
Proposal synopsis: Recently, there has been tons of money being poured into voter turnout events, especially voter registration drives, at the college level. However, these efforts leave behind 60% of young Americans: the non-college-attending youth. In order to help increase overall youth voter engagement, an alternative institution to start engaging young people during is high schools. However, there is little research on high school voter registration drives and effects, so I am looking to fill this gap.
