Liz is a 2021 CAPS Undergraduate Fellow, writing a thesis entitled “Flies Spread Disease, Keep it Zipped: How The Right’s Influence Affected Sex Education in the 1970s”
Thesis synopsis:
For my senior thesis, I intend to answer the question of how the rise of the conservative women’s movement in the 1970s affected the outcome of sexual health education in public schools in the United States today. In order to complete this project, I will rely on archival sources from the Radcliffe Institute’s Schlesinger Library, including the Boston Women’s Health Book Collective, Phyllis Schlafly’s EagleForum Newsletters, and a myriad of secondary sources.
