Zoha Ibrahim is a recipient of a 2025 CAPS Undergraduate Summer Thesis Research Grant. Zoha’s proposed thesis is entitled, “Uncovering the Regime of Racialized Islam: American Crimmigration after 9/11 and the War on Terror.”
Proposal synopsis: This project posits that the aftermath of 9/11 and the War on Terror created a Regime of Racialized Islam in America. This regime framework conceives of the many legal and political ramifications of the War on Terror as the result of the racial construction of Muslims in America. This question will be explored through examining archival records of the Bush administration and government agencies and interviewing those who experienced the manifestations of the regime firsthand.
