Jade is a 2021 CAPS Undergraduate Fellow, writing a thesis entitled “Investigating Prison Resistance Organizing in the Rural South.”

Thesis synopsis:

My project seeks to determine why two strikingly-similar high-security prisons, the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola and the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, have experienced different degrees of prisoner-led organized resistance since 2018. This project will ask, “Why did two prisons with such similar histories, reputations, and modern structures have such different relationships to the National Prison Strike in 2018, and what does this mean for future prison organizing?”
